Perth & Mandurah CCTV & Security Rebates for 2026/27
Which Councils Will Save You $$$?
Updated: September 2026
With several councils offering security rebates, and an ongoing offer from the State Government for Senior Citizens they can be combined with, there has never been a better time to install CCTV with qualifying applicants able to receive up to $900 in rebates on qualifying installs.
Funding varies by council, some provide dedicated CCTV rebates, while others provide broader security rebates that can be used towards CCTV, alarms and other security equipment. A few also provide rebates for commercial installations.
Most are funded per financial year with strict allocations, which means that once their annual allocation has been exhausted the grants are retired – so it is important to get in quick!
We’ve put together this guide to CCTV and security rebates offered by councils across Perth for 2026/27.
Important: Council rebate programs, eligibility requirements and funding availability can change. Always check your council’s current terms and conditions and obtain any required approval before purchasing or installing equipment. With a call to us we can direct you to the right area.

WA Seniors Security Rebate
If you hold a WA Seniors Card in addition to council rebates, you may also be eligible for financial assistance via the WA Seniors Security Rebate towards improving security around your home.
The Safety and Security Rebate can help eligible WA Seniors Card members with the purchase and installation of approved home security equipment, including items such as CCTV systems, security alarms, security screens, door and window locks and sensor lighting.
This rebate is separate from local council CCTV and security programs, so if you’re a senior considering a new security system, it’s worth checking both your local council rebate and the WA Seniors Card rebate to see what assistance may be available.
Note Bassendean, Cockburn and South Perth council rebate schemes are incompatible with the State Government rebate and they direct senior card holders to use the state program exclusively.
Eligibility requirements, maximum rebate amounts and approved products apply, so check the current WA Seniors Card conditions before purchasing or installing equipment.

How Much Could a Perth CCTV Rebate Save You?
The amount available varies considerably depending on where you live, the type of equipment being installed and your individual eligibility.
Across the Perth council programs above, assistance ranges from relatively small targeted security subsidies through to CCTV rebates of up to $500.
Some councils contribute a percentage of the total installation cost, while others provide fixed maximum amounts for particular products.
For example, a council offering 30% towards an eligible $1,500 CCTV installation could reduce the effective cost by $450.
For a homeowner already considering CCTV, that can make a professionally installed system considerably more affordable — or allow the available budget to provide better cameras or more comprehensive coverage.
Double-check Rebate Requirements Before Installing CCTV
Every council has different eligibility criteria and some require approval before the installation takes place.
Depending on the council, requirements can include:
- Applying for approval before installation
- Living or operating a business within the council area
- Using a licensed security installer
- Meeting minimum camera specifications
- Installing a hard-wired CCTV system
- Having at least one camera capture a public area
- Providing a formal quotation
- Providing photographs of proposed camera views
- Supplying invoices and proof of payment
- Registering the CCTV system with WA Police Force Cam-Map
- Agreeing to provide footage to WA Police when requested
- Completing installation within a specified period
- Funding still being available
Some programs are provided on a first-come, first-served basis and may close once their annual allocation has been exhausted.
It is your responsibility to check the council’s current requirements before accepting a quote or proceeding with an installation.
Can SMS Security Install CCTV for a Council Rebate?
Yes.
SMS Security supplies and professionally installs CCTV systems throughout the Perth metropolitan area.
If you’re hoping to use a council CCTV or security rebate, tell us when you request your quote.
Where appropriate, we can take the published requirements of the relevant council program into consideration when designing and quoting your CCTV system and provide relevant system and installer information required to support your application.
The rebate itself is provided by the relevant council, and eligibility, approval and continued availability of funding remain entirely at the council’s discretion.
A CCTV Rebate Is an Opportunity to Improve Your Security
A rebate can reduce the cost of CCTV, but security shouldn’t simply be about installing as many cameras as possible.
The better question is:
What needs to happen when something goes wrong?
CCTV is an important security layer because it can deter offenders, allow you to see what is happening around your property and provide recorded evidence after an incident.
But CCTV is only one part of a complete security system.
Depending on your property and security risks, a properly designed system can also use:
- Perimeter detection to identify activity before somebody reaches the building
- Intruder alarms to detect unauthorised entry
- Door and window protection
- Smoke and environmental detection
- Smartphone alerts and remote access
- Professional alarm monitoring
- Security response services
- CCTV positioned for useful identification rather than simply recording activity
The objective isn’t simply to have security equipment.
It’s to reduce the opportunities for something to go wrong, detect problems as early as possible, and have an appropriate response when they occur.
The Right CCTV System for You
A professionally designed CCTV system should take into account:
- Driveways and approach pathways
- Camera placement and coverage
- Human facial and vehicle identification
- Day and night performance
- Difficult lighting conditions
- Recording and storage capacity
- Remote viewing
- Smart security alerts
- Vulnerable areas and blind spots
- Alarm and security integration
A cheap camera in the wrong position may record an incident without capturing the detail required to identify the person involved.
SMS Security can design a CCTV system around your individual property and the outcomes you actually need from it.
